The Department of Safety and Inspections is hiring an individual to perform entry level technical work in the examination of residential building and routine commercial plans and the application of building codes, laws, and regulations related to building construction.

Responsibilities
Here’s what you can expect to do: Reviews building plans for routine structural design and compliance with related regulations to include single family and two-family permit requests. Assists in issuing building permits. Responds to standard questions and requests regarding the building permit process, including in person customer contact. Assists other staff with complex plan review requests for code review. Performs related duties and responsibilities as required. For more information and essential functions, see our job description. Qualifications
Requirements may be met by one of the following options: An Associate's Degree in Building Inspection and six months of experience reviewing residential and/or commercial plans for regulatory compliance. Two years of experience in plan review reviewing residential and/or commercial plans for regulatory compliance. Two years of a combination of plan review as above, cost estimating and construction, housing inspection and plan review, and construction and design. Two years of experience in engineering design or architectural design.
