Responsibilities
-Welcoming community members, explaining library services, answering questions, providing information, and locating library materials. -Empowering users to build skills and problem-solve through one-on-one assistance, group or individual study, and referrals to other resources in the community. -Creating and facilitating events, activities, learning circles, and programs for all ages, such as story time. -Creating safer spaces for customers and staff by using de-escalation techniques and trauma-sensitive services, striving to create healing-centered environments for members of the public. -Leading projects such as homework center, career lab services, or a makerspace.
Qualifications
A bachelor's degree; or two years of college (60 semester credits) and two years of reference and referral library services experience plus two courses in library-related classes; or a Certificate in Urban Library Services or equivalent certification and one-year of library services experience.
Note: Library Associates assigned to driving the Bookmobile will require a Class D driver's license.
