The City of Arden Hills is seeking individuals for seasonal Public Works maintenance positions (working 8 hours per day, a minimum of 3 days a week and up to 5 days per week). If you enjoy working outdoors, being part of a team, and want to be involved in the important functions of city operations, this job is for you! Seasonal maintenance workers perform intermediate manual work, operate light equipment in the maintenance of City parks, streets and utilities, and have related duties as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the supervision of the Public Works Superintendent.

General knowledge of equipment, methods and procedures used in department activities; general knowledge of the traffic laws, ordinances and regulations involved in equipment operation; general knowledge of the operation and minor maintenance of equipment; skill in operating required tools and equipment; ability to perform heavy manual tasks for extended periods of time often during adverse weather conditions; ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals; ability to maintain records and complete forms; ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions; ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other departments and the general public.

Responsibilities

Performs manual labor and performs semi and unskilled work in maintenance of Public Works.

Assists full-time employees in various maintenance and repair tasks (may include, but not limited to, cleaning, painting, operating equipment, observing monitors, shoveling, repair work, filling, transporting, removing, mixing, mowing, clipping, trimming,) in the streets, water, sewer, and parks divisions.

Operates various motorized and non-motorized equipment.

Drives City vehicles and equipment to various job sites.

Follows all safety requirements of each job task.

Follows all work direction from full-time employees and supervisors.

Assists in building and grounds maintenance as directed.

Assists with traffic control as directed. Assists City residents.

Reports problems in the community, at the work site, and with concerned residents or employees.

Cooperates with supervisors and site leaders.

Qualifications

Must be at least 18 years of age. Valid Class D Driver's License (verification required). Ability to pass background check and a drug test.
