Last year, MORE served 535 individuals through services from two program areas: Education and Social Services. These services are offered in an environment that is comfortable, welcoming and flexible.

MORE’s Executive Director is the driving force behind MORE's mission by leading the organization towards achieving its goals in adult basic education and social services. The role is pivotal in steering the organization's strategic direction, overseeing operations, and ensuring the realization of its vision. The Executive Director is the key management leader of MORE and is responsible for overseeing the administration, programs and strategic plan of the organization. Other key duties include fundraising, marketing, and community outreach. The position reports directly to the Board of Directors.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement long-term strategies in line with MORE's mission to provide refugees and immigrants with education and support, helping them achieve economic and social independence today and for generations to come. Collaborate with the Board to set goals, ensuring alignment with organizational values and community needs.

Operational Management: Oversee all aspects of the organization's operations, including program management, staff organization, and adherence to legal and contractual obligations.

Financial Oversight and Development: Manage the organization's budget and financial activities. Innovate fundraising strategies and diversify revenue streams to ensure long-term sustainability.

Community Engagement and Advocacy: Act as a spokesperson, strengthening relationships with partners, media, government, and the community. Advocate for refugees and immigrants, adult basic education, hunger/basic needs, social justice, etc.

Board Interaction: Work closely with the Board of Directors, providing regular updates and engaging them in strategic decision-making.

Program Development and Evaluation: Ensure the effective implementation of programs aligned with MORE's mission. Evaluate program impact and make data-driven improvements.</li> <li>Staff Leadership and Development: Lead and mentor staff, fostering an inclusive and dynamic work environment. Oversee recruitment, training, and professional development.</li> <li>Compliance and Reporting: Ensure compliance with legal standards, organizational policies and funding requirements. Provide transparent and accurate reports to the Board and stakeholders.

Communication and Community Engagement: Excellent communication skills, adept at community engagement, advocacy, and serving as an effective spokesperson.

Organizational and Time Management: Exceptional organizational skills, including time management, delegation, and maintaining an organized workspace.

Adaptability and Problem-Solving: Ability to adapt to change, manage stress, and solve problems under pressure.

Team Building and Staff Development: Strong skills in team building, staff leadership, and development, including hiring, training, performance management, and retention.

Qualifications

Qualifications: 

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • At least 7 years of leadership experience in a nonprofit or educational setting.
  • Strong commitment to MORE’s mission and values.
  • Proven track record in fundraising and financial management.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and advocacy skills.
  • Experience in program development, evaluation, and management.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and stakeholders.
