Come join our team! Saint Paul Public Libraries is hiring a Library Safety Manager. This position is responsible for performing highly responsible professional work directing projects and programs in the areas of library safety and security. This is an exciting opportunity to direct the work of safety specialists across library locations and build a culture of safety by utilizing restorative practices.

Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities: Proposes and implements safety strategies and initiatives in collaboration with the leadership team Recommends policy updates, revisions, and changes, and provides related communication to management and staff Develops site-specific action plans and trains staff and managers in their use Performs full supervision of Library Safety Specialists including scheduling, directing work, training, and managing performance Responds to the security needs and ensures safety of library staff and the public. Coordinates emergency responses to unsafe situations and takes appropriate action. Monitors incidents at library locations and makes recommendations to leadership regarding patterns observed Acts as a main point of contact and builds relationships with city departments and relevant partner organizations Conducts regular site visits, performs risk assessments, and evaluates safety needs related to public service The City of Saint Paul offers an excellent benefits package including health insurance, retirement contributions and paid time off.

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in social work, sociology, criminal justice, occupational safety, psychology, or a related field; and four years of responsible experience in at least one of the following: security, law enforcement, program/project management, and conflict resolution techniques. Experience above must include at least three years of supervisory experience.

OR

An associate degree in social work, sociology, criminal justice, occupational safety, psychology, or a related field; and six years of responsible experience in at least one of the following: security, law enforcement, program/project management, and conflict resolution techniques. Experience above must include at least three years of supervisory experience.

An equivalent combination of education and experience to equal or exceed eight years of the experience noted in the requirements, will be accepted.

Must possess and maintain a valid Minnesota Class D Driver's License or equivalent out of state driver's license.

Must possess and maintain CPR and First Aid certification within six months of employment.
