The City of Saint Paul Office of Technology and Communication is looking for an GIS Administrator. This is a unique and exciting role that provides the opportunity to act as the technical lead of the City's enterprise mapping (GIS) platform. This role combines strong technical capabilities with consultative and communication skills to ensure the City's GIS platform delivers highly valuable mapping solutions to City departments and the public. Proficiency with Esri’s ArcGIS technology products will be critical to success.

Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities: Acts as technical lead of the City’s enterprise GIS environment including administration of ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online, geodatabases, and desktop GIS applications.

Plans and implements upgrades and improvements to GIS platform.

Configures high-quality, intuitive web mapping solutions that improve City operations and inform the public.

Designs and builds GIS datasets to support the City’s mapping needs.

Supports the GIS team on solution consultation efforts with department stakeholders and other contacts.

Builds and administers processes to integrate GIS with City business systems.

Develops technical documentation for GIS processes and solutions.

Stays current on new and upcoming GIS technology to improve the functionality and benefits of the platform.

Responds to and resolves inquiries and requests for GIS support submitted to the City’s IT service request system.

Qualifications

A Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology Management, Geography, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Computer Technology or related field; and four (4) years of vacancy-related work experience, or vacancy-related technical school certificate and six (6) years of work experience related to the vacancy.

May require a valid Minnesota Class D Driver's License, or equivalent out-of-state driver's license.

Professional experience may be substituted for education on a year for year basis. A combination of education and experience must total 8 years or more.
