Job Summary
The Minnesota State Fair hosts dozens of competitive exhibit categories including baked goods, crafts, livestock, farm crops, flowers and many more! The Minnesota State Fair competition department is in search of a Competition Administrative Assistant to help support the daily operations of the competition department and the Admin Too Building throughout the year.
Essential Functions
• Employment Type: o Temporary Employment: January – December 2024, 1-3 days per week, may increase to 4-5 days per week during Summer months. • General administrative support: o Data entry into multiple databases and systems across departments. o Process entries, prepare large mailings, update documentation, make copies. o Sort, organize and label supplies, print pieces, awards and results. o Complete special projects as assigned. o Organize and maintain office common areas: copy/mail room, conference room, competition areas. o As part of team, staff building reception area and direct visitors. • Manage customer relationships: o Answer departmental phone calls and in-person inquiries in a professional and positive manner. o Work with exhibitors to problem solve online registration issues over the phone. o Deliver excellent customer service to exhibitors, superintendents, vendors and fair guests. • During peak activity times, work extra daily hours and periods with no days off. This may include weekends in August. • Assist with tasks as assigned by either the immediate supervisor or full-time competition staff members.

• High school diploma • Must be at least 18 years of age or older. • Strong computer skills. • Excellent oral and written communication, organizational and interpersonal skills. • Self-motivated; detail oriented and proven ability to work independently.
