SEH is currently searching for a skillful Traffic Engineer to join our team!

SEH’s Traffic Engineering team consists of experts who engineer ways to keep everyone moving safely and efficiently. Responsibilities

Providing leadership on the pursuit, scoping and management of traffic engineering and transportation tasks and projects. Conducting and directing traffic modeling services for a variety of projects including multimodal corridor studies, traffic impact studies and freeway studies. Working collaboratively to deliver creative operations and design solutions to address safety and capacity needs for all modes of travel into the future. Collaborating with and provide support to other members of the traffic engineering team and SEH’s highway design, planning, civil and other groups throughout Minnesota, Iowa, North Dakota and South Dakota. Communicating effectively, present results to clients and stakeholders, work well with teams and demonstrate a knowledge of quality management and quality assurance processes. Providing reviews for fellow team members as well as lead the completion of analysis and deliverables for a variety of large and small projects. Examples include single intersection and corridor Intersection Control Evaluation reports; urban street and corridor studies; and freeway studies and Interstate Access Requests. Collaborating on project teams across all of the locations SEH serves as needed and where interest is shown.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field. Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Minnesota, or ability to be licensed in Minnesota within 3 months. Four (4) or more years of previous experience specializing in traffic engineering studies, analysis, and evaluation. Excellent interpersonal and public communication skills. Knowledge of and proficiency with traffic engineering software tools including Synchro/SimTraffic, Vissim, HCS and Rodel Proficiency with Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Knowledge of industry best practices, agency preferences, and traffic engineering principles Strong technical writing skills demonstrated through preparation of reports, memorandums, and presentations Ability to travel as needed for team meetings, client consultations, business development excursions, on-site inspections/visits, occasional overnight travel will be required. Must live in a state that has an SEH office Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience utilizing big data resources such as StreetLight, Clearguide, etc. Working knowledge of GIS. Experience with multimodal transportation analysis, planning or design. Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification. Active participation in professional organizations, conferences and technical publications. Proven track record of delivering successful projects to City, County, other agency and/or MnDOT staff in the Minneapolis/St. Paul Metro Area, and/or greater Minnesota Prequalified for MnDOT Work Type 14.7 Traffic Special Studies Prequalified for MnDOT Work Type 14.81 Freeway Modeling-Level 1 Supervisory and/or mentoring experience Previous experience with traffic signal timing Previous experience with CORSIM, or other microsimulation software Open to all locations but prefer someone living in Minnesota
