Performs skilled mechanical work in the maintenance and repair of the fixtures, control systems, and mechanical plant of a large office building. Monitors automatic controls on heating and cooling plants, sets switches, repairs malfunctions and/or gets assistance from vendors as needed. Maintains and repairs all mechanical equipment and systems supplying water, electrical power, and steam or water within the building. Operates and maintains a Building Automation System, supplying building utilities during emergencies. Coordinates the building cleaning by an outside contractor. Helps coordinate remodeling projects. Performs related duties as required.

Responsibilities

Information About These Positions: Police Department: One vacancy is in the Saint Paul Police Department is at 367 Grove Street, Saint Paul, MN 55101. Position performs maintenance and repair work for 13 buildings within the Police Department. Typical schedule is Monday - Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with occasional evenings/weekends. Daily routines vary with a wide variety of tasks and projects including; locksmithing, carpentry, welding and fabrication, plumbing, electrical, furniture design, and snow removal.

Office of Financial Services: One vacancy is at the City Hall Annex, 25 West 4th st., 200 City Hall Annex, Saint Paul, MN 55102. Typical schedule is Monday - Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 Daily routines include managing the Building Automation System, routine preventative maintenance for air handlers and pumps. Handles thermal comfort for a 17 story building.

Qualifications

Must possess a Second Class "C" Boiler's license issued by the State of Minnesota and have five (5) years of experience in a mechanical or maintenance position that included duties performing repair, maintenance, and alterations to buildings including repair of the mechanical systems of a large, multi-story building.

In addition, two (2) years of such experience must have included the operation and maintenance of a Building Automation Management System.

Preferred Qualification: Universal refrigerant license
