Overview

The Minnesota State Fair is in search of a Superintendent to oversee the Home Improvement and Creative Activities Annex buildings! The Home Improvement building is a great space where exhibitors present their business products and services for home and commercial projects. The Creative Activities Annex is home to a number of merchandise vendors who exhibit and sell a variety of products to Fair guests. This position oversees the operations of Home Improvement and Creative Activities Annex buildings, building maintenance and staff.

Essential Functions

•Oversee and serve as a liaison between the Minnesota State Fair Concessions & Exhibits department and exhibitors/concessionaires with license agreements. •Answer questions for exhibitors/concessionaires related to Minnesota State Fair policies, procedures, rules and regulations. •Observe exhibit/concession operations to ensure compliance with license terms. •Maintain attendance, critique and performance records on all exhibitors/concessionaires in assigned areas for the Concessions & Exhibits department. •Respond to public inquiries regarding Minnesota State Fair guest services. •Manage interactions between exhibitors, concessionaires and other fair staff. •Hire and manage building staff. •Keep the buildings clean (i.e. sweep floors, empty trash, cleaning restrooms). •Manage staff schedules and communication with Concessions & Exhibits Department. •Maintain electronic timecards for self and staff. •Answer questions for guests and exhibitors. •Communicate with other Fair departments to resolve maintenance and repair issues. •Coordinate with Human Resources department to resolve employment related issues as needed. •Assist with tasks as assigned by either the immediate supervisor or General Manager.

Qualifications

•Great communication skills with the ability to direct and manage staff. •Ability to work well with groups. •Problem solving skills. •Previous customer service related experience. •Available to work early August – mid September with limited days off. •Extended hours during peak times and consecutive days without time off are required. No days off will be approved during the twelve days of the fair (ending Labor Day). Schedule is subject to change during the fair. •Computer skills and experience, preferably Microsoft Word and database software. •Must be at least 18 years of age. •Computer skills and experience, preferably Microsoft Word and database software. •Valid driver’s license.
