Computer Skills Training (IT)

Computer skills are important for many aspects of life and work in the 21st century. We can help you learn to use computers, even if you have no experience at all! Get more comfortable using computers and maybe even prepare for a future career in Information Technology (IT).

At Harmony, no experience is needed to begin. We start with computer skills development using the Northstar Digital Literacy lessons and assessments. The program then focuses on training for the Microsoft Office Specialist Certificate. A Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certificate can be earned for Word, Excel and Powerpoint. Students may begin this free course at any time and certification tests are offered onsite. Check the class schedule for class times.

Both the Northstar Digital Literacy and Microsoft Office Specialist curriculum are online and can be used in-person at Harmony or remotely from home. The programs are independent study with support so you can work at your own pace.

The Northstar Digital Literacy Project defines basic computer and online skills, offers free online assessments, and provides certification for students that pass the assessments. This certification can be used as a credential for employment.
