Position Summary 

The Computer Data Sanitization Technician is responsible for securely sanitizing data-bearing devices in accordance with NAID AAA certification standards while supporting computer refurbishment, inventory tracking, and warehouse operations. This position plays a critical role in ensuring donor data security, maintaining accurate processing records, and preparing technology for refurbishment or responsible recycling. Hours: 7am-3:30pm Salary: $17-$19/hour, based on experience. 

Responsibilities

  •  Follow NAID AAA-certified data destruction procedures and chain-of-custody requirements at all times. ·
  •  Operate data wiping, degaussing, and diagnostic software to securely sanitize data-bearing devices. · 
  • Track and maintain accurate records of processed equipment, including asset information, device status, and disposition details. 
  •  Apply asset tags, labels, and tracking information throughout the refurbishment process.
  •  Assist with the physical destruction of storage media when required by data security policies. 
  •  Ensure compliance with all data security, 
  • confidentiality environmental, and workplace safety requirements. 
  •  Participate in ongoing training related to data security, workplace safety and certification standards. 
  •  Assist Intake staff with unloading trucks and checking in donated equipment as needed.
  •  Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment by keeping workstations, shelves, and storage areas orderly.
  •  Perform other warehouse duties as assigned.

Qualifications

 Basic knowledge of computer hardware components and their functions.

  •  Experience with inventory management systems, databases, or asset tracking software preferred. 
  •  Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information responsibly. 
  •  Demonstrated ability to perform detailed, process-driven work where accuracy, documentation, and security are critical. 
  •  Strong organizational skills and the ability to follow detailed written procedures. 
  •  Ability to work independently while maintaining productivity, accuracy, and attention to detail. 
  •  Comfortable performing repetitive tasks while consistently meeting quality standards. 
  •  Previous experience in electronics recycling, IT asset disposition (ITAD), computer repair, manufacturing, or warehouse operations preferred. 
  •  Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening to meet NAID AAA certification requirements.
  •  Must be able to regularly lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
