Description
The City of Saint Paul Public Works Street Maintenance Division is hiring Street Services Workers to perform manual labor in the construction, maintenance, and repair of streets, highways, alleys, sidewalks, and City right-of-way.
Candidates with a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) have a starting wage of $31.77 - $35.27 per hour. Candidates with a Class D Driver's License or equivalent and relevant work experience will have a starting wage of $26.16 per hour.

Information Specific to this Position: Street Maintenance staff rotate between two schedules: winter schedule (mid-October – April) and summer schedule (April – October). Start and end dates for each schedule are contingent upon weather. The shifts available vary and shift preference is based on seniority. This position will require you to work weeknights and weekend days or nights.

Responsibilities
Here's what you can expect to do:
- Work outdoors in all types of weather; nights, weekends, holidays, and reasonable overtime as required.
- Perform snow removal and trash removal from the public right-of-way.
- Operate and maintain equipment.
- Sweep and clean streets and performs traffic control in the right-of-way for maintenance operations.

Qualifications
Requirements may be met by one of the following:
Possess and maintain a Class B or Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL), including a tank vehicle endorsement, with no restrictions for airbrakes.
Or
Possess and maintain a valid Minnesota Class D or equivalent out of state Driver’s License And
Related paid work experience Or
Currently enrolled in a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) training program
Additional Information:
Licenses must have no suspensions or revocations for driving-related offenses during the two-year period prior to the date of appointment. Suspensions for parking-related offenses are excluded.
Employment in this job classification shall not exceed 2080 regular work hours without obtaining a Commercial Driver’s License. Failure to obtain a Class B or Class A CDL will result in termination of employment. Extensions due to extenuating circumstances may be considered.
Candidates with a Class D driver’s license will be assigned to the non-CDL step of the salary schedule. The first pay period after obtaining a Commercial Driver’s license, employees will advance to the CDL Holder Start Step of the salary schedule.
Must pass a DOT required pre-employment drug screen and submit to DOT mandated random drug and alcohol testing after hire.
