Description
The Service Technician is responsible for troubleshooting and completing repairs in a safe and timely manner. This position will also maintain accurate customer records while providing top customer service to all clients of the Company.
Responsibilities
- Perform technical repairs according to task-oriented schedule
- Diagnose and trouble-shoot problems with appropriate equipment, applying high voltages of up to 1000 DC to the components
- Maintain a clean work area to ensure the safety of all who enter our high voltage areas
- Estimate repair costs and obtain authorization prior to beginning work for repairs
- Conduct proper cleaning of machines before and after repairs
- Maintain proper paperwork for all repairs
- Effectively read schematics, technical manuals, and diagrams
- Communicate and cultivate the Core Values of Oxygen Service Company internally and externally
- Contact vendors via telephone to obtain repair items, components and information as needed
- Create invoices and submit requests to purchase parts according to customer needs
- Recommend preventative maintenance plans or additional repairs
- Increase knowledge of position through continuous education and training
- Communicate clearly to internal and external customers regarding the nature of any service or repair
- Attend regular department L-10 meetings, bringing problems and solutions to increase efficiencies
Qualifications
Education, Experience and Skills:
- High School diploma or equivalency
- Associate’s degree or Certificate in electronics, manufacturing, robotics or other applicable degree preferred
- 2+ years of previous experience in electronic circuitry preferred, or combination of the listed education and experience
- Must have high attention to detail and be organized
- Effective oral and written communication skills and basic customer service experience
- Must have good reasoning skills, math aptitude and time management skills
Equipment Used:
- Oscilloscope, multimeter, and other electronic testing tools
- Forklift, two-wheel dollies, liquid cart, and overhead crane
- Office equipment and computer programs such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), and ERP Software
- Various power and handheld tools, such as grinders, impact wrenches, drills, flow meters, amp clamps, engine compressors, electrical testing equipment, etc.
- Safety shoes and safety glasses required; gloves, hearing protection, and welding gear when applicable
Job Specifications/Requirements: Ability to stand on your feet 4 to 6 hours a day with frequent walking, twisting, bending, reaching, grasping, sitting, and repetitive motions. Frequent lifting/carrying of 25-35lbs is required, may at times lift up to 75lbs. Frequent pushing/pulling of 75lbs. Ability to work in moderately warm or cold conditions where high noise levels are possible. Willingness to travel for training and to visit customer sites to assist with the completion of machine calibrations.
