MnDOT's Phoenix Program offers student worker opportunities for high school students interested in engineering or other STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) careers. Phoenix Student Workers gain hands-on experience in various functional areas by working at MnDOT offices and districts statewide.

  • This posting will fill multiple vacancies for the Phoenix Program in locations including Duluth, Bemidji, Golden Valley, Mankato, Maplewood, Oakdale, Rochester, Roseville, St. Cloud, St. Paul, and Willmar. 
  • The position may have the flexibility to telework, work a hybrid schedule, or work in the office. The incumbent will be required to make a telework arrangement with their supervisor. 
  • The incumbent will be expected to work in the office as determined by policy and discussion with their supervisor.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet all of the following requirements:

  • Students must be enrolled at a Project Lead the Way (PLTW) high school or participating in Achieve Twin Cities: 
  • Step Up or Right Track youth employment programs.
  • Completed junior year by June 2026 and entering senior year for the 2026–2027 school year. 
  • 3.0 or higher GPA Submit the Phoenix Program supplemental form and an unofficial transcript.
