The City of Saint Paul Department of Safety & Inspections is hiring a DSI Fire Safety Inspector III to perform advanced level work in conducting the most complex and difficult complaint investigations, inspections, and enforcement actions associated with commercial, single family, and multi-unit residential properties related to property maintenance and public safety. This position may be assigned to be on-call after normal working hours including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

Requirements may be met by one of the following options:

  • Four years of experience performing fire safety investigations, inspections, and compliance for commercial, single family, and multi-unit residential properties related to property maintenance and public safety.
  • An associate degree or 60 college semester credits to include coursework in fire, building, or engineering technology, construction, communications, or any related area and two years of experience performing fire safety investigations, inspections, and compliance for commercial, single family, and multi-unit residential properties related to property maintenance and public safety.
  • A bachelor's degree to include coursework in fire, building, or engineering technology, construction, communications, or any related area.

And

  • Must possess and maintain certification as a Fire Inspector II or III by the Minnesota Fire Service Certification Board, the National Fire Protection Association-NPQB, or the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress to NFPA 1031 Standards.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Minnesota Class D Driver's License or equivalent out-of-state driver's license.
