The City of Saint Paul’s Office of Technology and Communications (OTC) is looking to hire a Junior Network Administrator in their Operations and Infrastructure division. 

  • This position is part of a team responsible for the day-to-day operation of the city’s network environment, which provides various services to internal city staff as well as external users such as residents or the public.
  • As a Junior Network Administrator, you will work across city departments with a variety of stakeholders to help build consensus, share expertise with others using a consultative approach and drive results to meet business requirements. 
  • Additionally, within the team you will lead and prioritize work assignments to align with citywide goals and business objectives, and plan innovative changes to ensure a positive, collaborative, and high-performance work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot network issues
  • Independently utilize all available resources (knowledge bases, online resources, vendors, etc.) to ensure timely resolution of network issues
  • Assist with planning, installation, maintenance of wiring and other network infrastructure including working with City departments on remodel and new facility work related to networking
  • Installation of low voltage network infrastructure
  • Network system monitoring, performance tuning, switch/firewall backup/recovery, network architecture, and network system maintenance
  • Member of the 24x7 on-call support team

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in information management, Computer Technology, or a related field and two (2) years of work experience related to the vacancy or a vacancy-related technical school certificate, and four (4) years of work experience related to the vacancy.
  • A combination of education and experience to equal six years or more can be used to qualify for the position.
  • May require a valid Minnesota Class D Driver's License, or equivalent out-of-state driver's license.
