The Pumper is responsible for performing a combination of job duties associated with the compressed/liquefied/cryogenic gas business. The position will safely fill cylinders and support the overall responsibilities of the plant and lab with high efficiency and accuracy.

Responsibilities

  •  Fill cylinders with numerous gases such as Nitrogen, Oxygen, Argon, Helium, etc. 
  •  Mix gases according to vendor and customer specifications 
  •  Fill cryogenic and other compressed gases from bulk source to cylinders according to customer orders 
  •  Learn and comply with OSC Medical Oxygen program for filling USP grade oxygen 
  •  Properly bar code and label cylinders or tanks 
  •  Monitor pumping operations to ensure accuracy of gases through the plant automation system 
  •  Ensure cylinders are properly reconditioned and secured 
  •  Perform cylinder inspections identifying surface defects and leaks 
  •  Assist drivers with loading/unloading their vehicles and record cylinder types and quantities 
  •  Complete cylinder paperwork while comparing them to vendor information 
  •  Vaporize liquid gases and fill tube trailers when needed 
  •  Perform routine maintenance on various plant equipment 
  •  Maintain organization of the plant to ensure safety of all employees, vendors and visitors 
  •  Serve as backup for blasting and painting cylinders

Other Responsibilities: 

  •  Perform other job duties as assigned and fill in for other employees in their absence 
  •  Test cylinders according to company specifications

Qualifications

  •  High School diploma or equivalency 
  •  Prior industry experience or basic knowledge of gases, cryogenics is preferred 
  •  High attention to detail when dealing with tight tolerances and standards 
  •  Strong oral and written communication skills and basic customer service experience 
  •  Must be organized, have good reasoning skills, math aptitude and time management skills 
  •  Ability to make decisions based on facts and attain precise set limits
