The Metropolitan Airports Commission is looking for a high-energy, motivated individual with a great attitude to join our Landside Operations team. Under the direction of the Manager of Ground Transportation, the Operations Agent is responsible for the daily coordination and administration of all commercial vehicle and parking activity at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP). This position monitors and inspects all commercial ground transportation companies and parking operations; administers and documents agreements and operating permits; prepares analyses and reports of varying nature regarding ground transportation and parking issues and operations, and performs other duties as assigned.

Hours/Schedule: This position is anticipated to work Tuesday through Saturday, 1:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Responsibilities

Position Description: Coordination Monitor and coordinate MSP ground transportation and parking activity to ensure the safe and convenient delivery to the traveling public. Monitor and coordinate daily airport ground transportation and parking operations to ensure compliance with MAC ordinances and policies. Perform daily inspection of MSP parking and ground transportation infrastructure, ground transportation companies, vehicles and drivers as required and authorized by MAC ordinances and policies. Staff the North Star Center to coordinate day-to-day Landside operations as assigned. Administration and Operations Administer the department’s application, documentation and licensing system for the airport’s commercial ground transportation operators and maintain appropriate records to document operator compliance with MAC requirements. Perform follow-up documentation and inspection activities of commercial ground transportation operators and parking infrastructure. Assist in communication of MSP ground transportation policies and procedures, the monitoring of agreements and permits, and communication of contract interpretations to ground transportation operators. Assist with resolution of complaints and the dissemination of information to the public and ground transportation operators, parking customers and other stakeholders. Assist in identifying transit service needs, traffic flow problems and long-range changes in facilities and operating strategies concerning MSP ground transportation and parking operations. Other Responsibilities Provide information to ground transportation operators, tenants and stakeholders as directed. Under the direction of the Manager of Ground Transportation, coordinate with other MAC departments including Field Maintenance, Facilities, Trades, Risk/Insurance and Airport Police for general maintenance and assistance in providing safe and convenient ground transportation and parking to the traveling public. Monitor computer-controlled ground transportation dispatch system. Perform a variety of projects and prepare reports on ground transportation and parking operational matters. Assist in planning and arranging for special event passenger/ground transportation and parking needs. Coordinate and assist customers during high volume parking events. Investigate and report damage to vehicles, and operational infrastructure. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS 

  • Two year’s post-secondary education in a related field
  • Two years of experience working in ground transportation or operations at an airport or related experience at commercial vehicle organization
  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule, including evenings, weekends and holidays 
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision 
  • Ability to effectively resolve conflict in an assertive and respectful manner
  • Valid state-issued driver’s license 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills 
  • Reliable vehicle to commute between job sites 
  • Experience writing, analyzing and/or interpreting financial or operational reports 
  • Intermediate skill level using Microsoft Word and Excel and Outlook
  • Ability to obtain a MAC driver’s license
