The Delivery Driver is responsible for completing assigned deliveries and pick up of merchandise, and assist with shipping and receiving responsibilities. Also provide top service to customers at business sites.
Responsibilities
Pull and scan orders for the day to load trucks with materials for delivery route Operate company vehicle in a professional, safe and courteous manner following all traffic rules Drive standard route in metro area of about 200 miles/day and deliver merchandise to customers in a timely manner Serve as a liaison to sales and other managers, reports on progress, communicates to appropriate personnel to enhance customer service/support Perform daily pre/post trip safety inspection on truck; i.e. check turn signals, tires, etc.; DOT manifest preparation and complete paperwork Unload items and process paper work at customer locations Ensure delivery of appropriate merchandise in accordance with customer invoices Provide customer with receipt and/or credit form for merchandise to be picked up Complete dock and tailgate stops on route. Checks empty cylinders and replace; have bills signed and perform sales and customer service tasks Return credit merchandise with appropriate paperwork and inform management of delivery Offload empty cylinders at terminal Sort through delivery tickets in preparation of next day’s route Double check invoices and forward to billing clerk Assist in maintaining a neat and clean workplace at all times
Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalency 3-5 years of truck driving experience desired Manual Class A license with Hazardous Material Endorsements required, Tanker Endorsement preferred Basic knowledge of gases, cryogenics i.e. pressure and compatibility preferred Industry experience such as handling cylinders is desired Effective oral and written communication skills and basic customer service experience Must be organized, have good reasoning skills, math aptitude and time management skills
