Position Overview: Hmong American Partnership (HAP) Academy OIC is seeking a dedicated and experienced Phlebotomy Instructor to join our team. The Phlebotomy Instructor will be responsible for delivering comprehensive classroom and hands-on training in phlebotomy to prepare students for certification and successful employment in healthcare settings. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in phlebotomy, a passion for teaching, and the ability to support students from diverse cultural and educational backgrounds.
Work Environment: The Phlebotomy Instructor will work in a classroom and laboratory setting, with off-site work for clinical partnerships and externships. This position requires a high level of interaction with students, so the candidate must be comfortable working in a collaborative, hands-on learning environment.

Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities: • Create Phlebotomy Program: Create Curriculum, work with HAP Academy OIC leadership to complete application for licensure with Minnesota Office of Higher Education, National Healthcare Association, or other accrediting bodies. • Teach Phlebotomy Courses: Deliver classroom instruction on phlebotomy techniques, anatomy, medical terminology, infection control, specimen handling, and patient care. Ensure the curriculum aligns with industry standards and certification requirements. • Hands-On Training: Provide practical, hands-on training in venipuncture, capillary puncture, and other blood collection techniques. Supervise students in simulated and real-world environments to develop their practical skills. • Curriculum Development: Develop and update course materials, lesson plans, quizzes, and exams in accordance with certification guidelines and HAP Academy’s instructional standards. • Student Assessment: Evaluate students' performance through exams, practical tests, and classroom participation. Track and document students' progress, providing feedback and additional support as needed. • Prepare Students for Certification: Guide students through the certification process, ensuring they meet all requirements for the national phlebotomy certification exam. • Support Student Success: Provide mentorship and support to students, helping them overcome challenges and successfully complete the program. Offer guidance on job search strategies and career advancement in the healthcare field. • Compliance and Safety: Ensure that all instruction and hands-on training meet health and safety standards, including proper use of PPE, sterilization techniques, and adherence to OSHA and CDC guidelines. • Classroom Management: Maintain a positive and engaging learning environment, managing classroom dynamics effectively and ensuring that all students feel supported and encouraged to succeed. • Collaboration and Reporting: Work closely with other instructors and program staff to ensure seamless delivery of the program. Participate in regular team meetings, reporting on student progress and program outcomes.
Qualifications
Qualifications: • Certification: Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or equivalent national certification required. • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of professional experience as a phlebotomist in a clinical or hospital setting. Prior teaching or training experience preferred. • Education: Bachelors degree in education and/or a healthcare-related field preferred. Additional certifications in healthcare education or related areas are a plus. • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex information to students from diverse backgrounds. • Cultural Competency: Experience working with immigrant, refugee, and underserved populations is highly desired. • Technical Skills: Proficiency in blood collection techniques, medical equipment, and healthcare software. Familiarity with online teaching tools is a plus. • CPR Certification: Must possess current CPR certification or be willing to obtain it.
