Summer Camp Instructor positions are available at Como Park Zoo & Conservatory. Job duties include (but are not limited to) preparing for and teaching assigned camp curriculum, providing high-quality classroom management and engagement, and building positive relationships with campers to ensure all feel welcome.

More information about the position: Requires teaching a minimum of three weeks Camp duration - June 10th to August 30th, 2024 Seasonal position - Monday - Friday (average of 32 hours per week) Weekly stipend of $750 Training: Instructors must complete an orientation and camp training occurring on May 18th and 19th or June 1st and 2nd. Some flexibility may be available, per the discretion of the Public Programs Coordinator. A training stipend of $200 is provided.

Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities: Ensure the quality and consistency of camp activities and experiences Use age-appropriate techniques to ensure campers have a fun and memorable experience Engage campers in learning through the effective use of Como’s camp curriculum Successfully manage campers in the classroom and out on grounds in the zoo and conservatory Build positive relationships with campers and parents/guardians to ensure all feel welcome Provide a safe environment for participants at all times Oversee and direct volunteer camp assistants Other duties, as assigned

Qualifications

Teaching license or similar professional credentials. Minimum 1 year of classroom experience working with students in PreK-6th grade. Ability to adapt and creatively deliver assigned curriculum in a fun and engaging manner. Ability to problem-solve and manage dynamic situations. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Have access to reliable transportation. CPR and First Aid Certification (preferred)
