Description
Performs intermediate level field and office engineering work related to Saint Paul Regional Water Services (SPRWS) including installing, repairing, maintaining, and inspecting the water systems. Plans aspects of or assists with plans for project activities across SPRWS divisions. Maintains required knowledge of the water systems in specific geographic regions of Saint Paul. Performs other related duties and responsibilities as required.
Information Specific to this Position: The role involves developing, maintaining, preserving, and archiving digital and physical engineering drawings and records. It develops and maintains drawings and other records related to engineering capital improvements. The current vacancy is within the Engineering Records Division at Saint Paul Regional Water Service, 1900 Rice Street, Saint Paul, MN 55113. Works fulltime in an office environment and the typical hours for the position are Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. There is no weekend or holiday work.
Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities: Digital and Physical Records Management Create, approve, and enforce policies and practices regarding digital and paper records, including organization and disposal. Develop a records storage plan, including short and long-term housing of physical records and digital information. Manage existing digital records residing within the document management program (includes drawings, reports. engineering records, O&M manuals, etc.) Scan physical documents and index scanned files into document management program. Modify existing document indexing to improve searchability and standardization. Locate drawings as requested to help project managers resolve queries. Provide record management awareness and guidance to employees as needed. Organize existing historical documents in archives. Establish organization system so physical drawings can be found upon request.
CAD Records Management Organize historic CAD drawings. Convert all CAD drawings to PDFs and index into document management program. Draft & maintain standard CAD drawings for utility structures. Draft as-builts for water main replacement, grading plans, and other construction projects. Create standard operating procedures for CAD drafting and as-builds. Organize and maintain QA/QC drawings submitted by contractors and inspectors. Develop CAD templates, blocks, catalogs, linetypes, LISP routines, and tool palettes.
Qualifications
Two-years of experience as a Water Utility Technician I (entry level field and office work including inspecting the installation, repair, and maintenance of water systems-technical, record maintenance, monitoring, and reporting experience) or equivalent.
AND
Twenty college semester credits including at least sixteen semester credits of technical classes. Technical classes include math, engineering, GIS, CAD, public works administration, and technical/business writing. Technical/business writing limited to four semester credits.
Additional years of qualifying experience may be substituted, one year for two semester credits, to a maximum of three years for six semester credits.
No substitution of credits for experience.
AND
Must possess and maintain a valid Minnesota Class D Driver's License or equivalent out-of-state driver's license.
