As the Weekend Facility Coordinator, you will have the opportunity to directly impact the visitor experience by ensuring the Bell Museum facility is in tip-top shape for all to enjoy. As a primarily public-facing unit of the University of Minnesota (as part of the College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences - CFANS), the Bell Museum is responsible for welcoming scores of regular visitors, as well as those attending special events held on site. In this role, you will be an active member of the Bell Museum community.

This position is expected to work 24 hours per week.
Responsibilities
What you’ll do: Building Management 50%
● Assist the Museum Facility Manager in administering the Bell’s facilities management programs to ensure that the building’s public spaces are clean, safe and secure. ● Act as the primary contact for facility-related issues when the Museum Facility Manager is not on site. ● Work with Visitor Services and ticketing Coordinators, Education staff, and Rental Leads to ensure smooth operation of the museum on weekends. Troubleshoot and resolve facilities-related issues as they arise. ● Coordinate access and communicate with the University’s Facilities Management (FM) department and other University personnel working in and around the facility. ● Lead routine checks of the museum to ensure the museum is clean and secure and that HVAC and other critical building systems are functioning properly. Determine when and how problems are resolved. Remedy and/or report issues to the Museum Facility Manager and Facilities Management personnel. ● Serve as the weekend contact for lighting systems, AV systems, and motorized shades. Assist staff with operation of these systems. ● Identify and perform cleaning and maintenance tasks where needed. ● Ensure that the museum is a welcoming environment for all visitors by monitoring barriers to participation for visitors with disabilities. ● Verify proper operation of disability assistance equipment such as power assist doors and lift tables. Problem-solve as needed. ● Resolve problems with traffic, grounds and parking as they arise. ● Manage weekend loading dock deliveries and pickups. ● Conduct weekly inspections of eye wash stations and initial safety tags when complete.
Event and Rentals Support 20%
● Supervise event set-up, breakdown, and cleanup. ● Modify schedule as needed to accommodate evening weekend events and their needs.
Student Staff Management 15%
● Assist in training and evaluation of student facilities assistants who perform cleaning and events duties for the museum. ● Lead, evaluate, provide guidance and direct the work of student employees when the Facility Manager is not present.
Safety, Security, and Emergency Plan Management 15%
● Understand and implement Building Emergency Procedures when necessary, sharing building emergency coordinator duties with Weekend Managers. ● Be the main escalation point for Visitor Services and Education staff should a visitor need to be confronted. ● Maintain familiarity with security, alarm and fire suppression/detection systems.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
● BA/ BS degree or four years of related experience in operations and building management. ● Experience supervising and directing the work of others ● Ability to problem-solve ● Strong customer service skills, including written and verbal communication ● The person in this position needs to move about the museum, including occasionally ascending /descending a ladder or positioning themselves to reach under tables or exhibits. ● The position occasionally moves equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
