Performs intermediate-level work cleaning and maintaining grounds and buildings. May assist with the maintenance of a heating and cooling plant system. May assist with or perform basic maintenance on heating and cooling systems. May drive a truck or van to deliver and receive equipment, furniture, mail, and supplies. May be required to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. Performs other related duties and responsibilities as required.

We currently have 2 vacancies, one with our Library Department, and one with the St. Paul Police Department.

Responsibilities

Information specific to department vacancy:

Library Department - A typical working schedule for this position is 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. or 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Will be assigned to a primary library branch but expected to cover all branches when needed. Weekends and holidays are required if snow removal is needed or there is an urgency/emergency, but not as part of typical work schedule.

Police Department - The typical working schedule for this position is Monday - Friday, daytime hours.

The eligible list created from this exam will be used to fill Custodian Engineer I positions as they become available within the City.

Qualifications

Experience performing cleaning and maintenance duties.

Special Engineer Boiler’s License.

Must possess and maintain a valid Minnesota Class D Driver's License or equivalent out-of-state driver's license.

For positions in the Saint Paul Public Library and Saint Paul Public Works: Must obtain a Second Class C (2C) Boiler License within fifteen months.
