Position Purpose:

Underwrites credit card and consumer loans according to lending policy and procedures to ensure loan quality and reduce delinquencies.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions and Basic Duties

Review, analyze and render decisions focusing on consumer lending products including, but not limited to personal loans, automobile loans, student loans, home equity loans, and home equity lines of credit

Properly evaluate and document exceptions to guidelines and/or policies prior to presenting to management

Maintain credit standards, policies and procedures and manage exceptions within an acceptable tolerance and communicate decisions to internal members

Make credit decisions in compliance with regulatory requirements

Reviews and analyzes vehicle loan applications submitted by dealerships

Analyzes applicants' financial status; credit history and collateral evaluation; communications with dealership and/or applicants to resolve loan application questions

Refers loan applications exceeding established lending authority to appropriate Consumer Lending Manager

Ensures loan agreements and documentation are complete and accurate

Provides support and direction to all Consumer Loan Underwriters; collaborate on loan applications and making recommendations

Handles inbound calls regarding loan applications

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

Bachelor's degree and 3-5 years of lending and credit review experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience

Experience reviewing personal and business financial statements and tax returns

Ability to render sound credit decision on own authority

Knowledge in Consumer loan underwriting and analysis, including the review and interpretation of client financial statements and tax returns

Oral and written communication skills

Ability to interact with both internal and external members

Independent thinking and decision-making skills

Knowledge of credit and regulatory policy
