Description
The Manager of Global Data Management is responsible for Master Data Management (MDM) and data architecture across all business units at H.B. Fuller. This leader is responsible for the processes used to manage, organize, standardize and improve the quality of our company’s master data according to established business rules. This leader will also actively lead a Global Data Governance Program focused on standardizing data governance practices across the company.
Responsibilities
- Managing a global team, 3 direct reports with 20 employees in the IT Global Data Management organization.
- Define, manage and ensure an adequate information trust model, controls for master data management, including reference data.
- Engage with Business to define & maintain master data and reference data standards, policies and conceptual models. Assure the management of data quality monitoring practices.
- Partner with local Business on Master Data preparation for SAP implementation readiness.
- Foster the creation of a data-driven culture, related competencies and data literacy across the enterprise.
- Development of Global analytics platform strategy and migration roadmap.
- Participate in data integration, business intelligence (BI) and enterprise information management programs by rationalizing data processing to support reuse.
- Model the future state of the data architecture and provide data architecture best practices and guidelines.
- Ensure that critical information assets modeled as part of any project are represented in the enterprise information architecture (EIA) and follow the design guidelines and requirements of EIA.
- Oversee the integration and staging of data, and the development and maintenance of the data lakes, data warehouse and data marts, for use by analysts throughout the organization.
- Provides leadership, coaching and direction to the Master Data Management team and staff.

- Strong business acumen, including industry, domain-specific knowledge of the enterprise and its business units.
- Expertise in budget planning and financial management preferably with show back and/or chargeback models.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute a strategic people plan that ensures that the right people are in the right roles at the right time and that employees are highly engaged and satisfied.
- Leadership, mentoring and coaching ability to build the necessary bench strength in the global IT organization.
Qualifications
- Master's or Bachelor's degree in business administration, computer science, data science, information science or related field, or equivalent work experience
- 15 or more years of experience in IT management or Business management
- 5+ years of leadership experience in leading cross-functional teams and enterprise-wide programs, operating and influencing effectively across the organization and within complex contexts
- 5+ years leading Master data management on SAP platform, or similar ERP
- Travel- ability to travel globally up to 20% of the time
- Languages—additional language fluency such as Spanish, Portuguese, or Chinese a plus.
- Proven record in leading IT transformational initiatives in complex and dynamic environments.
- Experience in integrating complex, cross-corporate processes and information strategies, and/or designing strategic metrics and scorecards
- Excellent business acumen and interpersonal skills; able to work across business lines at a senior level to influence and effect change to achieve common goals
- Proven data literacy — The ability to describe business use cases/outcomes, data sources and management concepts, and analytical approaches/options. The ability to translate among the languages used by executive, business, IT and quant stakeholders.
- Familiarity with business information generation and analysis methods
- Gravitas to develop a framework for information and analytics governance, as well as to sell and embed it in all levels of the business.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain digital concepts and technologies to business leaders, and business concepts to technologists. The candidate should be able to “sell” ideas and processes internally at all levels.
