Ramsey County launches new grant opportunity to boost support for local entrepreneurs

Ramsey County is inviting business community organizations (BCO) to apply for a new grant opportunity aimed at expanding support for small businesses and entrepreneurs. The Re-Imagination Resource Center grant is part of the county’s ongoing commitment to fostering inclusive economic growth and strengthening the local business ecosystem.

Through this initiative, the county will award two-year grants of up to $150,000 per year to selected nonprofit organizations that provide resources, training or mentorship to small businesses. Up to $2 million in total funding is available, with final award amounts determined based on application evaluation.

This funding is designed to help organizations enhance their capacity in three key areas:

• Building Technical Capabilities – Investing in systems, tools and skills that allow BCOs to better support local businesses.
• Expanding Training and Mentorship – Growing programs that offer guidance and education to entrepreneurs.
• Offering Financial Assistance – Providing direct support to small business participants who complete training programs.

Priority consideration will be given to organizations that:

• Are based in the communities they serve.
• Demonstrate a strong understanding of Ramsey County’s small business landscape.
• Operate with an annual budget under $1 million.

These criteria are not mandatory, but they reflect the county’s goal to ensure equitable access to resources and support for historically underserved businesses. A virtual information session about the grant is being held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 31.
