Career Pathways:

Working directly with their deans, students create a four-year plan which provides a roadmap of courses that is revisited throughout high school. Students can enroll in one or more recommended pathway core courses depending on interest areas. Pathways are flexible, not fixed, allowing students to take courses in any area of interest with no restrictions. Some of these courses offer the opportunity to earn free college credit.

  • Automotive
  • Business Management
  • Construction & Solar Technology
  • Engineering & Manufacturing
  • Liberal Arts

Projects and Initiatives:

Cummins Partnership:

Cummins, a multinational corporation that designs, manufactures, and distributes engines, filtration, and power generation products, has partnered with Mounds View Schools for the past 8 years to provide classroom volunteer, field trips, funding and most importantly summer internships. Mounds View and Irondale High School students participate in a paid, 9 week, high school summer internship in manufacturing, engineering, marketing, and quality control.

Gen Z Manufacturing Summer Internship Program:

Gen Z is an opportunity for employers to connect with high school students, from both Mounds View and Irondale High Schools, who are interested in learning and exploring opportunities in the field of manufacturing.

During the summer of 2021, this cohort of four students will rotate between four area manufacturers, spending four days each week at each site. Four hours each morning will be spent on-site at the manufacturer. Manufacturing partners will commit to hosting four students for just one four-day week.

In addition, students will spend two afternoons a week at one of the high schools working on related skills and OSHA certification.
