The Facilities Manager is responsible for ensuring physical assets and grounds are safe, secure and well-maintained in support of our mission. This role combines basic maintenance work with strategic planning and project management, overseeing all building systems, grounds, and vendor relationships. The ideal candidate is a highly organized, detail-oriented professional with strong written and verbal communication skills who can manage complex logistics, build and maintain effective vendor relationships, and assist with the seamless operation of our school food service initiatives.
Responsibilities
Facilities and Vehicle Fleet Maintenance:
- Manage and schedule routine and preventative maintenance for all building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, security systems, and fire alarms
- Manage and schedule routine and preventative maintenance for fleet of 3-5 vehicles
- Conduct daily inspections of the school building and grounds to identify and address maintenance and repair needs promptly
- Perform or coordinate repairs for general building issues, such as minor plumbing, carpentry, and painting
- Oversee groundskeeping, including landscaping, snow removal, and general property upkeep to ensure a safe and aesthetically pleasing campus
- Coordinate with Senior Director of Education on scheduling of annual mandatory drills and inspections and follow-up reporting
- Manage distribution and collection of keys and fobs for grounds access
- Maintain an accurate vendor contact list with organizational login information where applicable
Construction Pathway and Renovation Project Support:
- Support Construction Pathway Manager in managing and scheduling contractors during annual housing build project
- Lead the coordination of vendors and contractors to ensure smooth process during upcoming, one-time school renovation project
Custodial Inventory and Staff Supervision:
- Supervise school custodial staff; provide support when needed to ensure custodial work meets expectations and staff have appropriate supplies and equipment
- Develop and implement efficient inventory control systems and procedures across Change Inc. worksites
School Lunch Program and Staff Supervision:
- Supervise school kitchen staff; provide support when needed to ensure menu planning and preparation meets expectations and proper sanitation and food safety protocols are followed
- Ensure school kitchen staff is up-to-date on regular trainings as required by MN Department of Education
- Perform or coordinate regular maintenance of kitchen equipment
Administrative Support:
- Coordinate and support various operational projects as needed
- Provide support for special events and organizational initiatives
- Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
- 2-3 years experience in school facilities management or similar field, preferably in a nonprofit environment
- Demonstrable knowledge of general remodel or renovation operations
- Proven experience in purchasing, inventory management, and vendor relations
- Strong financial acumen with experience tracking budgets and expenses
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Exceptional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a culturally diverse environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and comfortable learning new software/systems
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of health, safety, and accessibility regulations
- Demonstrates initiative and ability to work independently

- Able to pass criminal and sex offender background checks, after a conditional job offer
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to navigate all areas of the facility, including stairs if applicable.
