The Registered Nurse (RN) serves Minnesota Veterans Homes' residents by delivering skilled nursing within the RN scope of practice as defined in the Minnesota Nurse Practice Act, in accordance with current Federal, State and Veteran Administration regulations. Utilizing the nursing process, the RN will provide assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to sufficiently deliver quality resident centered care. This process provides the guidelines to meet the physical and psychosocial needs of the residents.
The Minnesota Veterans Home in Hastings is a Domiciliary (DOM) which is an independent living community for Veterans. It provides a supportive environment that fosters a stable, healthy, and meaningful life for Veterans. Our rewarding program helps Veterans with their clinical, mental, chemical, and physical needs, and has the capacity to serve 195 Veterans between the Hastings and Minneapolis campuses. The Hastings DOM is located in the southeast metro with connecting highways for an easy commute. The beautiful 128-acre wooded campus includes mature oaks and pines, nature trails and biking paths overlooking the Vermillion River.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: Licensed in Minnesota as a Registered Nurse, in good standing Knowledge of nursing practices and techniques sufficient to provide effective nursing care for residents Skill in establishing and maintaining positive working relationships Effective communication skills sufficient to provide and instructions Computer experience sufficient to complete electronic charting and use basic computer functions such as email Ability to make decisions within the scope of nursing responsibilities Ability to evaluate the effectiveness of nursing care provided by other staff, make or recommend changes, and provide mentoring Current Basic Life Support or Cardiopulmonary (CPR) Certification Ability to teach self-help skills to residents
Preferred Qualifications: Training in or experience with chemical dependency, mental health, and co-occurring disorders Experience working with Veterans Experience working with vulnerable adults and maintaining confidentiality
