
Join Our Team as a Senior City Planner The City of Saint Paul's Department of Planning and Economic Development (PED) is seeking a Senior City Planner to join a passionate and dynamic team dedicated to building a vibrant and thriving Saint Paul. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to meaningful city planning initiatives while growing professionally and serving the community. As part of the Long-Range Planning Team within PED’s Planning Division, the Senior City Planner will:
Lead research, plan, and policy development to support city planning goals. Collaborate with senior planning staff, mentor junior staff, and support interdepartmental teams. Conduct community outreach and facilitate collaboration with stakeholders. Serve as staff to Planning Commission committees, task forces, and technical committees. Represent planning initiatives to the Planning Commission, City Council, and Mayor’s Office. This position involves drafting and editing plans, zoning code, reports, and presentations, and contributing to long-range initiatives such as the Comprehensive Plan and neighborhood planning.

Qualifications
A Bachelor's Degree in Urban Planning, Public Affairs, Public Administration, or a closely-related field, and four years of experience as a City Planner or equivalent.
A Master's Degree in Urban Planning or a closely-related field and two years of experience as a City Planner or equivalent is preferred.
A combination of education and experience to equal 8 years or more can be used to qualify for the position.
