Join us! The Saint Paul Police Department (SPPD) is looking for a detail oriented Accounting Clerk II with excellent communication skills to join the team. This position works Monday through Friday during core business hours at the SPPD headquarters at 367 Grove St, St Paul, MN 55101.
Here's what you can expect to do in the position: Invoice Processing and Approval: Process and audit invoices for accuracy and compliance with City policies, ensuring correct account coding and alignment with departmental budget allocations. Include accurate coding of expenses in the accounting system, incorporating cash receipts as needed. Payment Preparation and Processing: Prepare invoices and cash receipts for processing payments to vendors within the City’s accounting system, ensuring timely and accurate disbursement to meet all due dates and compliance requirements. Reconciliation of Vendor Accounts and Cash Receipts: Regularly reconcile vendor statements and cash receipts with department records, identifying and resolving discrepancies. Prepare department deposits and enter cash receipts into the finance system. Expense Report and Fiscal Support Management: Review and process employee expense reports in compliance with company policies, verify receipts, and code expenses accurately for reimbursement. Provide backup support for other Fiscal Affairs functions and special projects as assigned. Documentation, Compliance, and Technical Support: Maintain organized, accessible records for all accounts payable transactions, including cash receipts, to support audit readiness and ensure compliance with City policies and financial regulations. Utilize technical skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe to prepare, document, and manage financial records efficiently. Qualifications
High school diploma or General Education Development certificate (GED) with two courses in basic bookkeeping, 4 credits of post-secondary accounting courses, and two years of experience as an Accounting Clerk I or equivalent.
