Ever-Green Energy is looking for a dedicated team member responsible for field and in-plant activities for operation and minor maintenance of fuel, ash handling, and water treatment systems. As directed by the Lead Engineer, assist the Shift Engineer in performing his/her duties.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate the heating, cooling, distribution, power generation, and related equipment in a safe, efficient manner, ensuring compliance with all pertinent regulations, with minimal direction.
  • Perform in-field operation of fuel and ash handling, chiller and cooling towers and other plant equipment as required and as directed by the Lead Engineer or designee or by supervisor.
  • Must be willing to work rotating 12 hour shifts and mandatory overtime as required
  • Have basic electronic computer knowledge to operate boiler plant equipment, as well as outlook, Excel or Word.
  • Perform lubrication where required and on schedule specified by the Facility Lubrication Program.
  • Assist in record keeping and maintenance of the plant logbook for all equipment.
  • Perform housekeeping as specified by the Facility Housekeeping Plan and as assigned by supervisor or Lead Engineer.
  • Assist Lead Engineer and Relief Lead Engineer in making adjustments to chiller, cooling tower, fuel and ash equipment; controls and in coordination of fuel delivery, ash pickup, and other deliveries.
  • Assist in plant equipment maintenance. Perform minor maintenance walkthroughs for the purpose of repairing minor maintenance items. Document items found but not repaired on a Work Order.
  • Perform equipment isolation and lockouts to assure a high degree of personnel safety and equipment protection.
  • Perform other tasks as directed.

The employee is frequently required to use a respirator for special operations/maintenance just-in-time qualification; climbing ladders/ropes/scaffolding; far visual acuity of 20 feet or more; fine manipulation by picking, pinching; or otherwise working primarily with fingers rather than the whole hand; keyboarding; carrying up to 25 lbs.; near vision acuity at approximately 20 inches or less; peripheral vision by observing an area that can be seen up and down or to right or left while eyes are fixed on a given point; and pushing. Must be capable of maneuvering throughout industrial facilities such as energy plans and building HVAC mechanical rooms, etc. This is an I.B.E.W. Local 23 position. Required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is also provided. EOE, including disability/vets

Qualifications

 Minimum Requirements: 

  • Current Minnesota Special Engineer License. 
  • Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing. 
  • Physically able to climb over and around equipment, lift material up to 50 pounds, and work with common tools and equipment.
  • Capable of working rotating shifts. 
  • Valid driver’s license required and good driving record.

Preferred Requirements: 

  • Technical education related to essential duties and responsibilities. 
  • Experience in the operation and repair of wood and gas fired boilers using oil as back-up fuel, steam turbine and electric drives, pumps, and other related equipment.
