Join our team! Are you looking to further your career with the City of St. Paul? We an opening for a Senior Safety Officer position in our Parks and Recreation department. This position play an integral role in the health and safety of our employees, residents, and visitors.
What you can expect to do in this position: Perform full-performance professional work in occupational safety and health program development and implementation, safety training, and accident and injury investigation. Establish goals, policies, and act as the department resource for safety and work environment issues. Develop, maintain, and coordinate an occupational safety program through development of procedures, investigation methods, and inspections. Develop and implement safety education and training programs for employees, ensuring Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) compliance. Establish, update, and improve department emergency management plans. Investigate occupational accidents, injuries, and potentially hazardous environmental conditions; examine causes, maintain and analyze records, and recommends appropriate actions. Serve as main point of contact for federal and state agencies, contractors and vendors. Proactively identify accident prevention measures and engage in inspection and enforcement measures. Implement accident prevention approaches to reduce worker compensation claims and maintain safety work environments. Information specific to this position: The Senior Safety Officer works with Parks Operations division to develop practices and policies, and standards that ensure the safety of our staff and City of Saint Paul parks' visitors. Some of the duties include – site safety inspections, vehicle accident review and reporting, injury reporting, emergency planning programs, OSHA compliance, CPR, First Aid, and safety trainings.

Qualifications
A bachelor's degree in safety, occupational health, or a related field, and four years of experience in at least one of the following roles: safety program development, program leadership, regulatory compliance, or safety training. No substitution for education.
A Master's Degree in Safety may be substituted for two years of experience.
Must possess and maintain a valid Minnesota Class D Driver's License, or equivalent out of state driver's license. Suspensions for parking related offenses are excluded.
