
Basic Function
The current vacancies are in the Housing Stability department. The eligibility list created by this vacancy may be used to hire other vacancies in the department or County.
To perform custodial and food service duties in a shelter facility and assist residents and staff as directed; work with individuals experiencing homelessness in a shelter environment; and perform related duties as assigned.
GOOD TO KNOW: Candidates need to be able to work weekends and overnights.
If an internal candidate is selected, salary will be set in accordance with the personnel rules (i.e., promotion, transfer, or voluntary reduction).

Promote a diverse, culturally competent, and respectful workplace.
- Politely welcome, greet and assist all clients and visitors with needs, answer phones, and provide routine information or direct individuals to the appropriate person.
- Communicate relevant information accurately and timely to appropriate staff; ensure record keeping is consistent with established requirements.
- Enter client information into the Client Tracking System when a client enters shelter.
- Provide light janitorial services such as collecting and disposing of trash; cleaning and disinfecting rooms, bathrooms and common areas; and vacuuming/sweeping as necessary.
- Inventory cleaning supplies and food and beverages provided to residents.
- Assist with the distribution of food and beverages within the shelter.
- Respond to safety concerns as necessary to ensure no improper conduct or unauthorized persons are inside facility and/or property.
- Wear personal protective equipment such as gloves and masks as needed.
- Clean county vehicles and assist with trash removal.
- Drive County-owned vehicles to transport County residents to and from shelter facilities, depending on assignment.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Sufficient to perform the functions of position. May have obtained these skills through completion of a High School Diploma or equivalency.
Experience: None.
Other: Ability to work overnight shifts. Must be 18 years of age or older.
Substitution: None.
Certifications/Licensure: Driver's License valid for the class of vehicle to be driven, depending on assignment.
Exam/Screening Process Information
All applicants who meet the minimum qualifications and properly complete an application will be forwarded to the hiring department/manager for consideration for this temporary position. Temporary appointments work up to a maximum of six months. Candidates chosen for hire into a temporary assignment will not gain any rights or preferences for other permanent, Ramsey County positions.
Veteran's Preference: This is a classified position requiring an open, competitive selection process. Veteran's Preference points will be applied after a candidate passes the examination process. Applicants who are eligible for veteran's preference should update their veteran's DD214, and other supporting documents, and submit them as an attachment at the time of application.
Criminal Background Checks: All employment offers are conditioned upon the applicant passing a criminal background check. Convictions are not an automatic bar to employment. Each case is considered on its individual merits and the type of work sought. However, making false statements or withholding information will cause you to be barred from employment, or removed from employment.
E-Verify Participation: Ramsey County participates in the federal E-Verify program. This means that Ramsey County will provide the Social Security Administration (SSA) and, if necessary, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), with information from each new employee's Form I-9 to confirm work authorization. If the Government cannot confirm that you are authorized to work, Ramsey County is required to give you written instructions and an opportunity to contact DHS and/or the SSA before taking adverse action against you, including terminating your employment.
