
Basic Function
The current vacancies are in the Housing Stability department. The eligibility list created by this vacancy may be used to hire other vacancies in the department or County.
To supervise and lead the activities of the shelter wellness assistants at designated Ramsey County facilities; direct the work of shelter wellness staff, maintain documentation of daily activities and events; assist in scheduling shifts and assigning duties; act in a manner that allows for the resolution of issues and/or concerns that are decisive and timely; and perform related duties as assigned.
GOOD TO KNOW: Candidates need to be able to work weekends and overnights.
If an internal candidate is selected, salary will be set in accordance with the personnel rules (i.e., promotion, transfer, or voluntary reduction).

- Direct and lead the work of shelter wellness assistants by assigning duties, scheduling shifts, and providing work guidance.
- Assist and engage in proactive problem solving and solution implementation to issues or concerns as they arise in a timely and decisive manner; and always ensure the safety and security of residents and staff.
- Assist in developing and implementing policies and procedures that meet operational goals and support the mission and vision of the designated facility.
- Maintain accurate documentation of daily activities and events; and maintain inventory of supplies.
- Monitor and evaluate staff performance; assume onsite responsibility for shelter operations.
- Assist shelter wellness assistants in the performance of their duties, as necessary.
- Coordinate and manage the ordering, set-up and delivery of food to each facility.
- Coordinate and manage the performance of custodial duties such as collecting and disposing of trash; cleaning and disinfecting rooms, bathrooms and common areas; cleaning county vehicles; vacuuming/sweeping; and performing laundry duties as necessary.
- Provide other duties as assigned to facilitate daily operations and maintenance of the facility to meet the basic needs of residents served.
- Drive County-owned vehicles to transport County residents to and from shelter facilities, depending on assignment.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Sufficient to provide the knowledge required. May have obtained these skills through completion of a High School Diploma or equivalency.
Experience: One year of experience working in a shelter environment; or working with homeless populations; or in a similar situation involving care and support of vulnerable adults/youth.
Other: Ability to work overnight shifts. Must be 18 years of age or older.
Substitution: None.
Certifications/Licensure: Driver's License valid for the class of vehicle to be driven
Exam/Screening Process Information
All applicants who meet the minimum qualifications and properly complete an application will be forwarded to the hiring department/manager for consideration for this temporary position. Temporary appointments work up to a maximum of six months. Candidates chosen for hire into a temporary assignment will not gain any rights or preferences for other permanent, Ramsey County positions.
Veteran's Preference: This is a classified position requiring an open, competitive selection process. Veteran's Preference points will be applied after a candidate passes the examination process. Applicants who are eligible for veteran's preference should update their veteran's DD214, and other supporting documents, and submit them as an attachment at the time of application.
Criminal Background Checks: All employment offers are conditioned upon the applicant passing a criminal background check. Convictions are not an automatic bar to employment. This means that Ramsey County will provide the Social Security Administration (SSA) and, if necessary, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), with information from each new employee's Form I-9 to confirm work authorization.
