Position Purpose:
The Family Coach will see and serve families holistically who are participating in the Economic Mobility Hub (The Hub). The Family Coach will partner with families to address their needs, set attainable short- and long-term goals, and make progress on their goals. This partnership increases the likelihood of long-term success for everyone involved. The Family Coach will build trusting relationships and inspire a deep commitment from the entire family to achieve family set goals.

The Economic Mobility Hub is an Integrated Services Delivery Network between Department of Indian Work and Montessori American Indian Childcare Center (MAICC). It requires an understanding of the core partner organizations (DIW, MAICC) and the services they offer as well as knowledge of and use of the Hub’s referral partners to help Hub families access a range of culturally appropriate resources and supports including:
Work, income, and health support
Education and career training
Financial management and intergenerational wealth building
Community support and cultural connections
Training in the ISDN approach and family coach framework will be provided, if needed.
This position requires knowledge of data systems, referral sources, and trauma-informed work with American Indian families in poverty. This individual will be able to interact with participants, community partners, and community with respect and efficiency in a timely manner and in alignment with American Indian cultural values.
Responsibilities
Position Functions/Relationships:
This person reports to and is supervised by the Department of Indian Work Director. This person works with the Department of Indian Work staff, Montessori American Indian Childcare Center staff, American Indian community partners, Ramsey County, and staff at Interfaith Action of Greater Saint Paul.
Core Duties and Responsibilities
Improve the life of families through completing family goals.
Assist families in identifying their familial goals and converting those goals into a plan.
Help families design a road map to achieve their goals through the Hub’s Seven Generation Plan.
Ensure families are actively making progress on their goals by more than 75% of the time.
Increase family’s capacity to manage familial stressors/barriers/crisis.
Using the ISDN and Family Coach model, resources at Ramsey County, the American Indian Hub and at DIW to ensure families receive complete wrap-around services.
Actively and regularly schedule meetings/check in with each family.
Referrals/assistance made to American Indian Economic Mobility Hub Family Coach
Increase familial support network.
Help families identify their core support team (a network of family, friends, other).
Work as team to plan monthly family events that align with the Hub pillars
Additional Duties
Administrative /Reports/Meetings/Trainings
Serve as the local administrator for Hub’s Apricot data system.
Document, track, and report data and statistics using the Hub’s database system Apricot.
Draft narrative report on individual family successes.
Budget and submit expense reports/or check requests.
Manage and distribute incentives to individual hub families or events
Outreach and Organization Wide Activity
Support and participate in DIW/IFA organization wide events and activities.
Performs other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
2-5 years previous experience in a role focused on outreach and connecting with families in accessing resources in diverse communities, specifically the American Indian community. High school diploma/GED required; bachelor’s degree preferred. At least 21 years old. Valid driver’s license and insurance.
