Overview: 
Oxygen Service Co. is excited to offer a 12-week paid summer Internship for a Chemist in our Gas Plant located in St Paul, MN. The Intern will receive an introduction to the main functions within a gas laboratory. This position will focus on using a wide variety of analytical testing equipment to support the QA/QC of daily testing, maintenance, and upkeep. They will work closely with the gas operations team, with exposure to member of the entire company, including the Leadership Team.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities: A couple main projects for the summer include: organizing lab test results and filing in an orderly manner; developing electronic filing system through MS Office suite; and learn Gas Chromatograph (GC) testing equipment and procedures.
• Assist with and perform Gas Chromatograph (GC) analytical testing, along with documentation, for all inert cylinder gases • Conduct administrative tasks as it relates to reporting of our gases and required compliance • Learn and assist with customer complaint process • Gain knowledge of cylinder coding and labeling, as well supplier product knowledge • Learn and understand industry standards with tolerances, grade, purities, etc. and the role of the Quality Control Unit (QCU)

Qualifications

Education and Skills • Junior or Senior pursuing Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or other related field • Organized, detail oriented and strong analytical skills • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, ability to interact with multiple levels of the organization • Open to learning and teaching others • Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 Suite • Ability to work independently and multitask

Job Specifications/Requirements: Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time throughout the work-day. Ability to lift 20 pounds and pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds is required. Daily walking, twisting and bending with continuous fine manipulation, including grasping, handling and turning. Willingness to work in an environment where noise levels can be loud and hot/cold depending upon the season.
