Summary

This position is located out of Jordan, MN but may cover projects in the surrounding states and include short/long term travel. Responsibilities include communicating goals and directions effectively to multiple crews, proactively identifying problem areas on jobs, overcoming obstacles, and providing quality control. This role is also responsible for daily interactions with any subcontractors, inspectors, owners/GCs, and company leadership. The Bridge Superintendent must understand budgets, change orders, cost codes, purchase orders, contracts and must have a full understanding of overall project design.

Responsibilities

Functional Responsibilities:

Serves as a field general that motivates and enforces a strong safety culture on the project. Discusses and implements best practices that drive site safety daily Manages and maintains thorough knowledge of documents and schedule of activities Aggressively focuses on delivering the highest level of quality on all projects Monitors construction activities, including subcontractor performance for adherence to project documents and maintains Quality Control cost reports, change-order requests, monthly billing input, punch lists and any other standard operating procedure reports Proactively identifies potential problem areas early in the process and develops strategies to overcome obstacles Coordinates with Field Operations personnel to get crews and equipment allocated to the Superintendent’s project(s) Ensure crews have a clear understanding of their duties and responsibilities, provide accurate information and direction as well as the necessary tools, materials, and equipment to perform their jobs Maintains daily paperwork and electronic data, such as daily reports, field/inspection reports, purchase orders, contracts, billing reports, receipts, delivery tickets and correspondence Proactively work with the SMH dispatch team for securing the necessary trucking Knowledge of GPS and machine control to ensure high quality layout and quality of the work General Responsibilities:

Develops, monitors, and enforces compliance with site-specific safety manual and enforces a clean and safe jobsite including documentation, and is OSHA compliant Notifies appropriate personnel of safety violations and takes corrective action where necessary Ensures that proper safety equipment is available and used by all field personnel Actively participates in project appropriate pre-planning meetings with subcontractors to familiarize all subcontractors with the project schedules, construction methods, company procedures and policies and quality standards Provides quality control/assurance support on self-performance work and subcontractors’ work Reviews, expedites, and monitors material deliveries in accordance with the project schedule. Reviews all design revisions for added cost and schedule impact. Maintains up-to-date progress information, including labor and material cost data Ensures accurate and updated documents are maintained on-site Participates with Project Manager in weekly and monthly reviews; Immediately reports issues and delays Preplans all schedule activities, labor and material requirements for the project, and maintains communication with the project team Creates three-week, look-ahead schedules for all work that reflects the project schedule to make sure all required resources are available and communicate to the team Ensures punch list is completed per exit strategy requirements, and reports final numbers Can efficiently function on a computer to manage the project(s) including schedules, email, Bluebeam, and Procore Has the ability to manage a project from start to finish Communicates and works proactively to address all subcontractor issues Resolves project problems, disputes, and open issues on a daily basis Develops and maintains relationships with owners, owner’s on-site rep, architect, engineer, subcontractors, and vendors Identifies personality differences and works hard to communicate and achieve common goals, spends time daily developing and mentoring others Work with estimating/bidding personnel to provide input on productions, equipment, and process to ensure competitive bidding to win work Ordering Materials needed to complete job. Maintain inventory of necessary materials to complete projects. (Ties, Nails Screws, Lumber) Putting together material lists for the job, setting up deliveries with dispatch. Go over formwork design with jobsite foremen.

Qualifications

Five plus years of experience in supervisorial role in highway heavy construction A minimum of 10 years as a foreman/supervisor in highway heavy civil construction Highly knowledgeable in all aspects of civil construction Understanding of cost management processes, planning and scheduling Experience in managing crews of 20 or more employees
