NOTE: There are four positions available; full-time is benefit-eligible and 30+hours per week. Part-time options will also be considered. The starting pay rate is $17.00/hour.

The Leo C. Byrne Residence offers a unique living opportunity for retired priests of the Archdiocese of Saint Paul & Minneapolis. The residence allows retired priests to live in community and continue to serve the needs of parishes and organizations.

Responsibilities:

Position Summary: As a Housekeeping staff member, as assigned, you'll clean and maintain assigned areas in an orderly and attractive manner, ensuring the highest degree of cleanliness and sanitation at all times. Other responsibilities include Food Service; when assigned the kitchen, the staff is responsible for setting, clearing, waiting tables, and assisting in cleaning the food service area, including dishwashing, sweeping, and mopping the kitchen floor as directed, and other duties assigned.

Responsibilities

Housekeeping duties:

  • Clean apartments, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, and other work areas to meet health standards.
  • Will clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, as well as draperies using vacuum cleaners.
  • Will empty wastebaskets, as well as transport trash to disposal areas.
  • Will sweep, and scrub floors, using brooms and mops.
  • Will clean furniture as well as dust and polish.
  • Will keep storage areas and carts well-stocked, clean, and tidy.
  • Replace light bulbs.
  • Replenish drinking glasses, linens, writing supplies, and bathroom items in the guest room.
  • Sort clothing and other articles, load washing machines, and iron and fold dried items.
  • Sort, count and mark clean linens, and store them in linen closets.
  • Wash windows, walls, ceilings, and woodwork as necessary.
  • The staff supervisor will assign duties to other staff and give instructions regarding work methods and routines.
  • Deliver television sets and rollaway beds to guests' rooms.
  • Disinfect equipment and supplies using germicides or steam-operated sterilizers.
  • Will hang draperies and dust window blinds.
  • Move and arrange furniture and tum mattresses.
  • Observe precautions required to protect residence and tenant' s property, and report damage, theft, and found articles to supewisors.
  • Prepare rooms for meetings, and arrange decorations, media equipment, and furniture for social or business functions.
  • Will wash dishes and clean kitchens, cooking utensils, and silverware.
  • Carry linens, towels, toilet items, and cleaning supplies using wheeled carts.

Food Service:

  • Set tables with proper table service standards.
  • Serve meals in a restaurant-style fashion.

As waitstaff, you will relay information and food requests to the Chef on duty. Respond as directed.

  • Follow sanitation and safety standards at all times.
  • Clear individual tables after all diners at a table complete a course of the meal.
  • Clean and disinfect the tables after each meal.
  • Some food prep is required.

Qualifications

  • We will train with no experience necessary, but one year of related experience in a similar environment with on-the-job training is preferred.
  • Must be able to read, write and follow oral and written directions at a level necessary to accomplish the job.
  • Have the ability to remain calm under stressful conditions and make decisions.
  • Have the ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, staff, vendors, and the general public.
  • Have compassion for and desire to work with the elderly.
  • Must meet all health requirements, including Safe Environment training, and pass background checks.
