Description The Visitor Assistant - Galleries reports to the Gallery Services Coordinator. This position is a full-time, hourly paid position and is offered our full employee benefits package. Scheduling needs: Wednesday through Sunday 8:30am - 4:30pm

PAY: Starting pay is $15.00 per hour.

PAY INCREASES: Employees receive a .50 cent pay increase after 6 months of active employment and another .50 cent pay increase after 12 months. Additional pay increases will take affect annually following year one of employment and align with hire date.

COMMUTER BENEFIT: The Visitor Assistant is eligible for a $60 per month stipend to support expenses in commuting to the museum. The benefit is added to the employee's second paycheck of each month.

SELECTION PROCESS:

First Round – 30-to-45-minute phone interview. Second Round – One hour in-person interview. Coordinator will screen for references before offer

The Galleries Visitor Assistant is responsible for providing excellent customer service to all museum visitors, and monitoring and maintaining museum exhibits so they are ready for visitor use. This position also supports other departments in the division, including box office and security.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION

Provide excellent visitor experience in the galleries and public spaces by engaging and interacting with visitors Ensure exhibits ready for visitor use Support visitor operations and needs outside of the galleries Support division initiatives including service, education and sales programs Attend and participate in daily opening meetings, department meetings, trainings, and other meetings as scheduled. Other duties as assigned

Demonstrated ability to work well with adults and children Ability to display a high level of flexibility regarding job assignments Skill in interpersonal communication
Ability to express ideas clearly and present information effectively to Museum visitors. Ability to calmly and effectively handle emergency situations. Ability to work a flexible, variable schedule, including some holidays, evening and weekend days Ability to work independently and make sound customer service decisions Ability to speak clearly and effectively in crowded settings Ability to handle multiple tasks in a timely manner Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, changing environment MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
