Description:  Roseville Adult Basic Education has a teaching position for the Translation and Interpreting (TRIN) bridging with the Roseville Adult Learning Center, the Karen Organization of Minnesota, and Century College- Levels I, II and III.
 

Responsibilities

Level I Responsibilities - Teach online on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 6-8 p.m. May 17 - June 16.
Teacher will be paid for 3.0 hours and will sign on to Zoom 15 minutes before and after class.

This Level I responsibilities will be created in collaboration with the Career Counselor, as the CC will arrange employer visits. The position includes many components such as supporting a 1-credit Century College class on language acquisition, introduction to skills and knowledge one needs to successfully complete interpreting credentials and apply for interpreting jobs. Teacher will collaborate with Career Counselor to develop lessons to achieve content language objectives for interpreting skills and concepts, resume & interviewing workshops, financial literacy for independent contractors and support for academic skills.

Level II Responsibilities
Teacher will be paid for 40 hours to attend the Community Interpreter training. The purpose of this observation is to familiarize the teacher with the content of the Community Interpreter course and to provide students with support if necessary.
 
Level III Responsibilities
Teacher will be paid 3.75 hours per evening including arriving 15 minutes before and staying 15 minutes after plus .75 hours of instructional management time.  Must be willing to attend Century College classes as needed on Tuesday and Thursday evening plus a third evening during the week to support students on a day that will be determined soon. TRIN follows Century College’s Spring and Fall schedule.

Time will also be provided for preparation and planning, in addition to meeting with KOM and Roseville Adult Learning Center management and staff.
Level III consists of academic support for Century College courses in the Translating and Interpreting program with a deep focus on the literacies and academic skills including: writing reflections, understanding the format of a research study, and understanding plagiarism and proper ways to create a citation. Also the incumbent will develop strategies for improving reading and writing assignments as well as basic research.

Minnesota Teaching License required, experience with accommodations for visual impairment, work with EL populations and college prep preferred.

Compensation:  Salary as per the Adult Basic Education teacher's contract.
