The Association for Nonsmokers--Minnesota (ANSR) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to reducing the human and economic costs of tobacco use in Minnesota. Our core commitments are to reduce the number of young smokers, combat health inequities, and advocate for the health of all Minnesotans.

ANSR seeks a full-time Events Manager for one of its projects: the Minnesota Prevention Resource Center.

ABOUT THE PROJECT The Minnesota Prevention Resource Center (MPRC) project works to reduce the impact of alcohol, tobacco, and other drug abuse by connecting substance abuse prevention professionals and community partners to quality information and training they need to effectively prevent use. JOB SUMMARY The Events Manager will take the lead in planning and executing the events for the project. The purpose of this position is to oversee all aspects of planning and executing MPRC’s recurring trainings, new webinars and in-person trainings, and the annual MN Prevention Program Sharing Conference.

SALARY & BENEFITS This is a full-time (40 hours per week) grant-funded position. Salary range is $48-52,000 with a comprehensive, generous benefits package including fully-paid medical, dental, life, and disability insurance; retirement plan contributions; flexible savings account; vacation time, 10 paid holidays, and sick time.

REPORTING: This position will report to the Program Director of the Minnesota Prevention Resource Center.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The position is hybrid and flexible, with an office/home schedule to be determined upon position start.

Responsibilities

The Events Manager will:

  • Oversee registration and logistics for all MPRC events, including related communications to various stakeholders, and collaborating with various partners to provide targeted trainings based on the ongoing needs of communities around the state;
  • Facilitate the monthly conference planning committee meetings and lead all conference-related duties throughout the year;
  • Identify and secure conference venues or platforms, keynote speakers, manage abstract submission and selection, negotiate catering and vendor contracts, and other details for MPRC events;
  • Manage technological support, set-up, and registration for virtual events and webinars, using platforms such as Zoom Meetings/Webinars, Eventbrite, virtual event apps, social media platforms, and Google Suite;
  • Work closely with the MPRC Program Director to execute event planning details and promote the details of the upcoming events on the MPRC website;
  • Regularly communicate registration lists and logistical details with MPRC staff and the speakers for each event;
  • Send invoices and track offline payments for all event attendees;
  • Ensure training binders and supplies are provided to the trainers in a timely manner;
  • Work with venue staff to ensure events are executed smoothly;
  • Track and analyze event analytics to develop more successful internal and external processes; and
  • Assist with grant reporting, and provide necessary data to MPRC Director for mid-year, end of year reports.

Qualifications

Must Have:

  1. Bachelor or Master’s degree in public health, social services, or other related field, or comparable experience;
  2. Self-starter, self-motivated with high attention to detail;
  3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with cultural intelligence to communicate authentically across Minnesota’s diverse communities;
  4. Able to work remotely (as necessary);
  5. Excellent organizational skills;
  6. Able to work independently and as part of a team;
  7. Able to coordinate and execute multiple projects at once without losing attention to detail;
  8. Strong computer skills: experience with G-Suite and Microsoft Office including Excel and Word; experience with online event planning, registration, and hosting platforms (Eventbrite, WordPress, Facebook, Zoom, Survey Monkey, GoogleMeet); able to research, recommend, and train in new event-related technologies
  9. Able to justify event decisions through data, industry trends and best practices, and professional discourse
  10. Interest in public health, community organizing, communications, research, public policy or related field; and
  11. Reliable transportation and willingness to do infrequent travel within, and outside, the metro area, as needed. Would be nice:
  12. Interest/experience in communications and/or graphic design
