We are currently seeking job candidates with accounting or auditing experience for our Staff Internal Auditor role.

This position may be eligible for a work schedule that includes some teleworking.

Responsibilities

Our Staff Internal Auditor position exists to perform operational and compliance audits to ensure laws, regulations, agency policies, and procedures are met. The position is part of a two-person team that is located in our St. Paul, Minnesota office. The incumbent will be tasked with performing or assisting with audits or reviews; assisting with business risk assessment and the preparation of TRA's annual audit plan; and will provide advice and consulting on internal controls.

Qualifications

Auditor Minimum Qualifications Two (2) years of para-professional/technical level accounting or auditing support experience. OR One (1) year of professional level accounting or auditing experience. OR A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Education and/or experience must demonstrate the following: -Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and auditing principles. -Ability to analyze, interpret, reconcile, and audit financial data. -Ability to diagnose problems and recommend solutions for process improvement purposes. -Ability to plan, organize, and successfully manage competing priorities. -Ability to train or explain complex financial concepts to a variety of audiences. -Strong oral, written, and interpersonal skills. -Proficiency in using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, WebEx, and/or equivalent software packages.

Auditor Preferred Qualifications -A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. -An Advanced degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field. -Experience working with State of Minnesota government financial systems, such as SWIFT and SEMA4. -Experience conducting financial audits or analyzing financial statements to make business operation recommendations. -Experience working for a public pension fund or private financial services institution. -Proficiency in using Access, PowerPoint, and QuickBooks.

Auditor Intermediate Minimum Qualifications Two (2) years of professional level accounting or auditing experience. A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field can substitute for one year of professional experience.

Experience must demonstrate the following: -Responsibility to perform financial and/or compliance audits. -Application of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and auditing principles. -Ability to analyze, interpret, reconcile, and audit financial data. -Ability to diagnose problems and recommend solutions for process improvement purposes. -Ability to plan, organize, and successfully manage competing priorities. -Ability to train or explain complex financial concepts to a variety of audiences. -Strong oral, written, and interpersonal skills. -Proficiency in using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, WebEx, and/or equivalent software packages.

Auditor Intermediate Preferred Qualifications -A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. -An Advanced degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field. -Experience working with State of Minnesota government financial systems, such as SWIFT and SEMA4. -Experience working for a public pension fund or private financial services institution. -Proficiency in using Access, PowerPoint and QuickBooks. -Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and/or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA).

Physical Requirements This position requires occasional transporting of articles such as file folders, ledgers and/or small tools. May be required to move or maintain a stationary position for long periods of time.
