INFORMATION ABOUT THE PARKS AND RECREATION MANAGER POSITION:

Recreation Services Manager The Recreation Services Manager leads the Recreation Services Division, including 160 staff. In collaboration with community partners, Recreation Services provides high-quality community recreation and leisure programs and activities within 26 recreation centers, various athletic complexes, and a variety of other park spaces throughout the city. It also administers an adaptive recreation program, a mobile recreation unit, and an athletic office responsible for youth and adult athletics.

This position, along with other leaders and division managers, such as the Zoo and Conservatory Manager, Operations Manager, and Special Services Manager, manage the Saint Paul Department of Parks and Recreation.Are you looking to further for your career with the City of St. Paul? Here’s what you can expect to do in this role: Perform expert-level managerial and administrative work directing the programs, projects, and operations for a Division of the Parks and Recreation Department. Provide strategic leadership, division-level expertise, planning, policy development, and budget management. Represent Parks and Recreation to the legislature, City Administration, other departments, the general public and external organizations. Manage staff hiring, training, development, and performance, directly and through subordinate supervisors. Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

A bachelor's degree and seven years of increasingly responsible, professional experience in a public or private Parks and Recreation agency or equivalent. At least three years of such experience must have been in a supervisory or administrative capacity. No substitution for education. Must possess and maintain a valid Minnesota Class D Driver's License, or equivalent out-of-state driver's license.
