Responsibilities

Job Tasks and Responsibilities The Safety Manager is responsible for managing Aspen Waste Systems of Minnesota’s safety programs for the Twin Cities work sites. The Safety Manager is responsible for ensuring that all safety policies and procedures are communicated to employees and are administered correctly. The Safety Manager will be responsible for identifying and correcting any potential issues or workplace hazards. This position ensures a safe working environment for all employees at each worksite in the Twin Cities area. Duties include: • Implement and manage the company’s health and safety plans and procedures relating to company fleet safety policies, OSHA, FMCSA, DOT, and other relevant rules and regulations • Provide safety training for employees on those policies, regulations and procedures • Advise the company’s administrative team on safety issues and compliance in specific projects and operations • Inspect and verify company compliance with relevant safety programs • Maintain accurate and current records in accordance with guidelines • Analyze incident reports, metrics and injury case studies in order to institute changes • Monitor employee conformity to safety laws and policies • Suggest solutions, improvements and prevention steps for safety issues

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Both office environment and varying indoor and outdoor environments. May be exposed to heat, cold, rain, snow and other outdoor elements. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands. Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Must be able to lift, push, pull, carry up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

Qualifications • Education in Safety or related field preferred • 3-5 years of experience in a safety-related field preferred • Preferred knowledge of the applicable regulations such as FMCSA, DOT, and OSHA. • Smith Systems certification or knowledge preferred • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels, both written and verbally • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
