Overview

The Minnesota State Fair provides much more than the 12 days of fun we all know and are proud of. With more than fifty livestock and dry floor events in addition to the fair, our Coliseum team works hard to make sure our livestock area, buildings, and equipment are in top shape so we can provide the best experience for our event partners and guests. As the fair continues to grow so must our Coliseum team. Therefore, we are currently looking to add a Coliseum & Livestock Complex Specialist to our team!

Essential Functions

• Assist with the on-site management of facilities use for fair and non-fair events. • Maintain and monitor buildings and event facilities for safety, cleanliness and accommodation of event needs. • Assist with change-over, set-up, tear-down, clean-up and service activities related to non-fair events and the annual fair, including stages, buildings, grounds, parking lots, barns, etc. • Assist in monitoring event move-in and operations including providing last minute services requested by the client. • Help coordinate teamwork on jobs requiring joint team cooperation and collaboration. • Be knowledgeable of and able to operate facility sound system. • Monitor/enforce safety regulations and guidelines in the livestock area (AED’s, spill kits, safety equipment, safety signage, eye wash stations etc.) • Be knowledgeable of and promote safe work practices by the group. • Operate machinery including truck, forklift, tractor, skid loader and ground equipment. • Physical activity and heavy lifting (up to 50 pounds) will be required. • Work environment may include working with hazardous substances, heat/cold, noise, unprotected heights, bright/dim lighting and mechanical hazards. • During peak activity times work extra daily hours and periods with no days off. • Assist with tracking equipment use and overall maintenance of equipment. • Assist with tasks as assigned by either the immediate supervisor or General Manager.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Two years post high school education and four years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. • Experience operating heavy equipment • Physical activity and lifting (up to 50 pounds) will be required. • Oral and written communication skills. • Organizational and interpersonal skills. • Valid driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience using CAD systems or comparable programs. • Previous experience or interest in audio/visual system operation. • Previous event setup experience.
