Design, plan, and coordinate activities involved in the application and fabrication of a range of new and improved industrial and architectural products.
Responsibilities
Improve existing product lines, and create entirely new product types or designs Create more adaptable CAD models for new and existing product lines Direct and indirect preparation of product layout and detail drawings Design prototypes, and oversee their production and testing Create sales and engineering tools for future and current products Use manufacturing feedback to reduce cost on future and existing product lines Compare previously predicted improvements and cost reductions to real-world results Collaborate with sales to find applications for existing products in new markets Determine feasibility of building proposed products using current tools and processes Propose equipment purchases and process improvements to reduce cost and expand capabilities Develop concepts for fixturing and tooling to reduce manufacturing time and cost Work with marketing department to create promotional materials for new or improved products Estimate market size and manufacturing cost for new product concepts Work with corporate legal counsel to file patents Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by manager
Qualifications
4-year, Engineering Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Civil, or Aerospace Minimum 3 years of experience working within product design engineering Experience with 3D modeling software such as Inventor, Solidworks, or Creo (Pro/ENGINEER) Experience with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint) Ability to work well both individually and as part of a team
