The Mental Health Therapist provides professional, quality program services to the clients served by ReEntry's Crisis Stabilization Services and works with other members of the team to assist clients in obtaining and maintaining an optimum quality of life consistent with client needs and preferences. The work uses evidence-based practices adapted for the agency and the client's specific needs. The emphasis is placed on working with clients in preparation for a discharge plan to a community setting and directly providing the services necessary to assist clients in achieving their goals.

Under the general supervision of the Treatment Director, this position functions as an integral part of a treatment team and is responsible for providing individual and group therapy and participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning by developing treatment plans, assessments and crisis intervention strategies and complete them in a timely manner based on the requirements set by the Minnesota Department of Human Services. The Mental Health Therapist also coordinates with case managers, family members and other community providers to help ensure a continuum of care. This included monthly meetings and discharge planning.

Responsibilities

• Knowledge of modern principles, practices and techniques of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy-based treatments and willingness to practice adherently. • Be knowledgeable about and utilize various substance abuse treatment modalities such as harm reduction, motivational interviewing and Crisis stabilization interventions. • Have demonstrable working knowledge of Vulnerable Adults Laws and other pertinent rules and regulations. • Knowledge of symptoms and course of serious and persistent mental illness as well as medications and other therapies used to treat mental illness. • Knowledge of supportive counseling techniques, independent living skills/teaching and crisis intervention techniques. • Knowledge of evidence-based clinical practices. • Develop appropriate and manage crisis therapeutic relationship with clients. • Assess situations. • Utilizes crisis assessment tools for suicidal and aggressive behavior. • Helps defuse and de-escalate any potential behavior emergencies. • Maintain compliance with applicable Minnesota Statutes or rules, including but not limited to DHS Rule 36, Maltreatment of Vulnerable Adults, Duty to Warn, Minnesota Data Practices Act, HIPAA. • Maintain 30 hours training in Crisis Services in last 2 years • Must have good interpersonal skills and ability to work with and be part of a team. • Able to problem solve using analytical skills, creativity and logical thinking to reach a solution. • Able to work under pressure in a fast paced time sensitive environment with shifting priorities and multiple deadlines. • Multitask in an environment with multiple distractions is a must. • Able to use a computer for word-processing and data base management. • Be able to speak, clearly understand, and write the English language. • Drive during the day or evening hours that may require you to drive in the dark. • Be able to accommodate flexible working hours.

Qualifications

Qualifications: Education & Experience

Required: • 2,000 hours of experience providing services to persons diagnosed with a mental illness. • Licensed Mental Health Professional in the State of MN; LICSW, LP, LPCC or LMFT.

CEU Requirements

• 16 Continuing Education (CEU) Credits per year.
